Haiti Medical Trip July 3rd to 10th

Rev. Cal Dunnon has planned the next scheduled medical mission trip to Haiti for July 3rd through July 10th. In addition, the team will be accompanied by Dr. Pilar Martin and her medical team comprising of physicians, nurses, medical students and public health students from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

This trip will be a great learning experience for all who attend. We are soliciting support in the form of medicines, money and prayers. Please see our 'Contact Us' page.

Haiti As It Is

Blessing for a new day. Please continue to pray for the survival of the children of Haiti, especially the infants living in Tents. Port Au Prince receive the greater amount of damage as was reported. 95 % or more of the damage buildings have not been touched since the earthquake. Many of the victims bodies are still trapped in those buildings. Starting with the government buildings, the Treasury etc. The stench is suffocating. About 15 miles outside the city of Port au Prince is the City of Kenscoff. Church of God of The Alliance has a mission of School and Orphanage. All the children are presently living in Tents.

Kenscoff is about 13 thousand ft above sea, which means it get cold in the evening and morning. Its now their rainy season, which makes the temperature cooler than normal. I just sent thousand US dollars to them on tuesday after my arrival. The need is tremendous and will be there for a while.

We are so thankful for your generous support, you have made a difference in the lives of many people.

I met with the president of the Baptist Mission, they have a number of the victim of the earthquake in their small hospital. we visited and prayed with a number of the victims and gave small amount of monies to help buy food. We spent a day doing evangelism and praying for many, most of whom are christian and fellowship with them with monies. I met with the head of the senior citizen and gave them much of the medicine I brought and some monies to help their funds. Haiti is about 95% or more unemployed at this time.

There is no school in session at this time from Kindergarten to University. It is very difficult for the young people who has only one year to complete their requirements. The airport is badly damage, the cargo area is now the port of entry. The airport is braced with steel plate as you leave. Both commercial and military planes are using the same runway and docking, very fragile since you are wlking among people with machine guns.

The UN has time when they issue tickets for food to individuals. People fight so much that some leave with broken limps. Situation is desperate, no jobs, no housing, no direction being given. Please continue to pray and support Haiti.

We have made some pledges to help build the school and Orphanage, your continued support will make it possible. We are partnering with a group from Alabama, name Project K.I.D Promoting resilience for youth in disasters. Headed by Paige Ellison-Smith M.Ed.

They were hired by UN. Also another group called Children Forum, headed by Phyllis Kalifeh. located in Tallahassee, Fl We are paying for counselors to work with the children for 5 days per week. Our cost is $80.US per week.

Plus we also Provide $250.US per week for food and staffing overnight, cooking and care for 40 children at this site. We need your support here.

We met with the president and wife Turnbull who started this mission here in 1946. he is semi-retired but is still involve in the work. stays here 6 months of the year. We prayed for patients and give a few dollars. Many of these patients are earth quake victims from port au prince.There are many doctors on duty 24 hrs per day. I also met with a gentleman who is the head of a senior citizen center. I gave him much of the medication I brought and some monies towards the work; we did a video interview. Met with some church leaders and offered some small financial help. Helping with an Orphanage to train workers in conjunction with a group called K.I.D from Alabama. They have some connection with the Un. We were able, with their assist visited the Un hospital compound that were seen on Tv. Haiti is still in major distruction, but if you didnt know and meet the people you couldnt tell because of the great spirit. We also met with the Mayor of the town in assisting with food distribution with the Un. I am burn out at night. pastor Maxime and I are working together along with his father brother and few others. The school is being worked on from foundation, the Orphans are still in tents, we aquire a small property to erect a building for them but funds are not available. The Un/Redcross are planning to set up US style models for Orphanage, removing them from the custody of the churches, this is confidential and in planning stage. This is also why nothing has yet been done. Port au Prince is totally destroyed and no work is being done to remove debri or to restore. Please continue to support people, Christian in mission, this is their long term hope. I am planning to use today to do evangelism, please pray for us. Praise God, Praise God Multiplied Praises unto our Lord. Thank you all for your prayers and lifting up holy hands unto the Lord God. We continue to give thanks for you and families and ministries for down pouring of God the Holy Spirit for the abundance of His presence.  Thank you for your prayers for the suffering people of the world, and at this time in particular for the people of Haiti. For the tremendous out pouring of our compassion in giving and caring.

The Church, school and Orphanage have suffered great losses, they are trying to stabilize with new cement blocks, while searching for food. Yesterday he went to the Venezuela  embassy and was given a card to receive some food. Only registered non-governmental personnel were able to wait on line from 3:am in the morning. Please pray that they may be able to repeat this process so many more can be fed.

At this time, Western Union is not charging to transfer monies to Haiti. He was able to move the 29 Orphans from the house to safer locations with few reputable families, and provided them with support; The house was badly damage. Things have been horrible in Haiti now for many years, and that's why so many Americans and others have been faithfully supporting them. The earthquakes has beengoing on for two weeks now and they have not received any assistance from the Red Cross or Crescent, which does not recognize churches. The scripture ask us to prefer each other, Romans 12:10 and Galatians 6:10 KJV. If you know of any doctors or nurses who would be will to give their time and skill for a few days we would be grateful. they are also in need of medical supplies, and money and food. Hi Dear Pastor, I think it's will be very good to have a medical team at Delmas for 3589 people sleep in front of our Mission's offica at delmas 75. This week we were processed with some distribution to those people. We had 759 families, 1935 children; 103 volounteers in a comitee to help with the distribution from IOM. We would like to send you severals pictures but our internet signal is very poor. as soon as possible, we will send more.

Ground Transportation Needed

While I am thanking many of you for the great way you have partner with us to assist the children and poor in Haiti; we also want to keep you informed about the progress and status of the events as we receive them. pastor Junior is the manager of the MEBI mission and Fefe is the executive of the mission. Because the mission has a history, thousand gather there and are sharing in whatever resource provided them. We had barrels of water brought to them a week ago from Kenscoff where the other mission we support is located.

Pastor Maxim'e touched down in the Dominic Republic today, and will be going to Port au Prince early in the morning. Please pray as he crosses the border which is closed. Because of his family history, he was able to make some arrangement to bring him and his father across. It is a 7 hour trip by bus, so prayerfully, he will reach port au prince by evening. pastor Maxim'e will stop by the MEBI mission and then go on to Kenscoff, about ten miles from Delmas 75 PAP. Kenscoff has been badly damage, and no assistance, food, medicine or plastic shelter has been given to them. We also support the Orphanage with 29 chilren and the school of 350 students. Special THANK YOU to pastor Michael M. and the Learning True Life Fellowship, we will be able to provide much needed help with medicine, food and relocation. Also Special Thank you to pastor Charles Brooks, he truly is walking in a vision in Baltimore,Md. and the Dickey Hill school principal Mr. Aaron Clark for supporting the children in Haiti. Please remember in a special way these two young ministries in your prayer for continue blessings and growth.

Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti. We would like you also to continue to partner with us in this compassionate ministry. We will keep you up to date as we learn more.

Geographic Information regarding Haiti

Its now December 11, Dad and his mission crew have successfully completed their second mission trip of 2010. I felt even more honored by their dedication upon their departure. The Haiti trip lasted from December 1st - 8th.

I have communicated with Dr. Herndon at the Duke Eye Center the dire need for medicines for people with eye diseases in Haiti and Cuba. Dad's mission was intended on also reaching a specific orphanage in Cuba, however, the means to travel to Cuba at this time period is difficult. Nonetheless, Dr. Herndon was really cool about helping out. Only thing was, we were unable to secure a reputable clinical contact in time for him to connect with a source of meds. The next trip is set for May and hopefully we will be abundantly blessed by assistance from Duke and other philanthropic sources. Here is Dad's comments on the trip:

Blessings, and many thanks to so many of you who assisted us in the recent mission trip to Haiti. We planned to also visit Cuba, but it was not in His will, God knows best. God used us to minister to so many needs to so many people in Haiti both in the capital of Port au Prince and in the city of Kenscoff which is about 35 miles North East of the capital. I shared in the word on three different occasions, Tuesday night, Friday night and at the Sunday morning service. Of the four of us that went on the trip, three of us stayed at the Mission/Orphanage in the capital except for one night in Kenscoff.

We were royally treated by the staff and Madam Harris and pastor Junior. I slept in the room I have slept in since I first went in 1999 and the ladies shared one room. There were three other empty beds in my room. We were served three meals per day and had full use of the facilities, telephone, Internet, piano and interaction with the children and young adults and staff. I want to mention some of the gifts we received because it tells some of what happens. Although we raise funds to help pay for our expenses, this time all the funds we raise went directly to help in Orphanages for food and staff. Thanks to Bro. Freddie Green who sends $50 from Miami, Fl this money was used to buy food for some starving children in Kenscoff. Pastor Bill Sweeting came from Vroom Street Church in NJ to give us $200, this help to pay for back wages for people working in Orphanage in Creve. Gospel Baptist Church in Richmond Hills, sent $223 which also went to pay teachers at the Orphanage. Sis Stella Smith $50 went to help buy food at Orphanage in Kenscoff.

The teachers at both the Orphanage work for less money than the teachers in other schools, as a matter of fact, pastor Junior shared with me that they are actually paid below the minimum wage at $50.US per month. When we went, they were owing the teachers 3 months in wages, and mind you, things are more expensive in Haiti's supermarket than they are in the US.

One of the most striking thing to me was 23 children in an Orphanage in Kenscoff, in a building I was afraid to walk in because of fear of getting germs. I could not hold back my tears when I saw the horrible condition of beds without mattress, falling ceiling, sun light coming thru the roof and the vermin around the walls and floors. no water system, no shower, kitchen, one out house. no window pane in some windows and no linen on beds, skimpy clothes on children.......the urgency here is to relocate them in a humane environment and to provide responsible staff to supervise them. People in general can be vulnerable in Haiti, just think what might be happening to these Orphants. The parents cant afford to take them back since they dont have the food to give them and some cases the room to keep them... It will take about $4000 to put them in a decent place, provide food and responsible staff, "everyone whose heart God has moved" Ezra 1:5
